Iepe Rubingh

Iepe Rubingh is a Dutch artist born on August 17, 1974 in Rotterdam. His innovative work among others includes blocking off intersections in Berlin and Tokyo in order to create major traffic jams and raining “miracle trees” in Berlin and Singapore. Iepe founded chess boxing in 2003 and won the inaugural World Chess Boxing Championship in Amsterdam in that same year. He currently serves as the prime mover and master spokesperson of this new sport. There are now chessboxing organisations in Berlin, London, Krasnoyarsk (Siberia) and Los Angeles.
