About re:publica 2010

The re:publica will take place between the 14 and 16th April in Berlin for the fourth time. The conference, focussed on blogs, social media und digital culture, is hosted by newthinking communications and Spreeblick Verlag. 2,500 participants are expected to attend re:publica 2010. The event will take place simultaneously in the neighbouring locations Friedrichstadtpalast, Kalkscheune and Quatsch Comedy Club in Berlin-Mitte.

More than 150 hours of programme will be offered on 3 days on 8 different stages . The many facets of digital culture will be discussed in over 120 lectures, workshops, discussion rounds and events. For the first time within the framework of the re:publica the winner of the “Deutsche Welle BOBS” will be announced.

During the first re:publica in 2007, 700 participants came to the event in Berlin, by the year 2009 the number grew to more than 1600 attendees. This year over 2,500 participants are expected to attend re:publica 2010.

Directions

Re:publica will take place in three locations: Friedrichstadtpalast, Kalkscheune and Quatsch Comedy Club in Berlin-Mitte. All three locations are directly adjacent.

1. The quickest way by public transport is U-Bahnhof Oranienburger Tor. It is approximately 3-5 minutes from the location by foot.

2. One can however also come from S-Bahn Friedrichstraße (Google-Maps), by taking the S-Bahn to Friedrichstraße (see 2) and the U-Bahn or street car to Oranienburger Tor (see 1). One can of course also go by foot as it is only one stop away. U-Bhf Friedrichstr. can be accessed by the U6,  S-Bhf Friedrichstr. by the lines S3, S5, S7 and S75. The BVG also has timetables as well as a network map available for download online.

3. Air travellers schould take the available express busses from the airport to Alexanderplatz (or Bahnhof Zoo, Hauptbahnhof or Potsdamer Platz) and take the S-Bahn to Friedrichstraße (see 2) and from the there the U-Bahn to Oranienburger Tor (see 1).

By car: across the Kalkscheune is a parking lot with service fee.
